Please deliver your donation accompanied by a donation form to the reception desk on either campus.

Your family deposit is a non-interest-bearing deposit that remains with the school until your oldest child graduates. Many families choose to donate this deposit in order to take advantage of the immediate tax benefits of a contribution.

Did you know donations to the United Way can be directed to Southpointe Academy? Donors will receive a receipt for tax purposes and be recognized as a United Way donor. You will also be recognized as a Southpointe donor.

Many companies will match, double, or even triple contributions from their employees to registered charities like the Tsawwassen Independent School Society (TISS). The employee must initiate these gifts, so please contact your HR Department to see if your organization has a matching program.

A gift in kind is any donation that is not cash, a cheque or securities. Most often, gift in kind is a donation to be used in a fundraising event (an auction item) or in the school (artwork, technology equipment).

To ensure Southpointe can make the best use of your donation, please check with our Advancement Office before proceeding to make the gift.

If you wish to receive a tax receipt, please include a recent sales receipt or evidence of “fair market value” (resale, not insurance value). If the value of the item exceeds $1,000 then it must be accompanied by an independent appraisal. Canada Revenue Agency does not permit issuing tax receipts for services however, you can donation a gift certificate for a service which does qualify.

Gift in Kind Form

A gift of publicly traded securities is both simple and tax effective. When you donate securities, you do not pay capital gains tax AND you receive a charitable gift tax receipt to use against other income. You can benefit tremendously from this added incentive to reduce the real cost of your charitable giving or increase the amount of your gifts without increasing the costs. You can make a gift of securities at any time or make it part of your estate plan.

You and your broker or investment advisor may transfer these types of gifts electronically into Southpointe Academy’s brokerage account by using our Share Transfer Form.

You’ll receive a tax receipt for the fair market value of the gift, based on the closing price of publicly traded securities on the day the gift is received in Southpointe Academy’s brokerage account.
